Recently, the United States Embassy and Consulate in Nigeria announced that “No-Interview Student Visa Renewals” have now been made available for all Nigerian students whose Visas have expired within the past 24 months. Aspom Travels is thrilled to further expand on the above topic and explained in detail what you need to know and how to go about your application.
This breaking news applies to students who are already studying a major but wished to change their institution and study the same major or those who are intending to switch a major but remain in the same institution. Reading further, you’ll find more information on the topic.
Who Is Qualified For US No-Interview Student Visa Renewals?
According to the consulate, there are only two categories of Nigerian students who are qualified for this. As stated above here’s more detailed information you need to know. According to the consultant; “To qualify for this procedure, you must be physically in Nigeria renewing a student visa that is still valid or has expired within the past 24 months and is renewing your visa either to:”
- Continue studying in the same major even though you decide to change an institution
- Continue in the same institution even though you want to change a major course of study
However, those who do not qualify for the above conditions can still apply for a visa using the regular option which is by scheduled interview. Again Aspom Travel Agency is always here to help with all your travel needs.

Frequently Asked Questions
If I Qualify with the above criteria, can I take a family member along?
Unfortunately, No. Every individual must qualify and meet the above requirements. That means that “If someone in your family or group does not meet the qualifications above, they must schedule a regular appointment”. A family member who qualifies cannot be used to prequalify another family member.
According to the consulate, “Each applicant must meet the qualifications individually”. For instance, you cannot renew a child’s visa because you as the parent qualify under the above criteria. In that case, the child would undergo normal processes by scheduling an appointment.
After the appointment, the child must go to the Embassy or Consulate for an interview.
How can I remove someone that does not qualify for a student renewal visa from my profile?
You can remove your friend or family member who’s a member of your visa application profile. To do so, kindly follow the below steps.
Step 1: Log in to the primary applicant’s profile
Step 2: Click New Scheduling Appointment
Step 3: Follow the steps until you are on “step 6″.
Step 4: In step 6, check for the dependent’s information and click “x” to remove the dependent’s information from the primary applicants’ profile.
